Detects AutoIt3 execution from an unusual/suspicious folder. Legitimate folders are "Program Files" and "AppData\Local". AutoIt3.exe is a legitimate process used to execute AutoIt program files, which are used by legitimate software, custom scripts, but also malware. Finding AutoIt3 execution from unusual/suspicious folder can help detect malware activities, such as DarkGate execution. The detection rule can be tailored to your environment and your use of AutoIt3 by filtering out folder's execution of legitimate applications or scripts.

Detects suspicious spawning of explorer.exe process created by the rundll32.exe or regsvr32.exe. This behaviour is abnormal. Malware injecting itself into the explorer.exe process is quite common, in order to evade process-based defenses.

TOR Usage Generic Rule
Detects TOR usage globally, whether the IP is a destination or source. TOR is short for The Onion Router, and it gets its name from how it works. TOR intercepts the network traffic from one or more apps on user’s computer, usually the user web browser, and shuffles it through a number of randomly-chosen computers before passing it on to its destination. This disguises user location, and makes it harder for servers to pick him/her out on repeat visits, or to tie together separate visits to different sites, this making tracking and surveillance more difficult. Before a network packet starts its journey, user’s computer chooses a random list of relays and repeatedly encrypts the data in multiple layers, like an onion. Each relay knows only enough to strip off the outermost layer of encryption, before passing what’s left on to the next relay in the list.

Configure
This setup guide will show you how to enable log export in ESET Protect using syslog.
Only events from the following log categories are being exported to Syslog server: Detection, Firewall, HIPS, Audit and ESET Inspect.
Prerequisites
An internal syslog concentrator is required to collect and forward events to Sekoia.io.
Enable syslog forwarding on ESET Protect On-Prem
To enable Syslog server in ESET Protect, follow the steps below:
- In admin console go to

Click on

>Use Syslog server

Logging
>Export logs to Syslog
and chooseJSON
format. -
Save configuration.
Enable syslog forwarding on ESET Protect Cloud
Warning
Important note - For ESET Protect Cloud, you will required a secured syslog forwarder. Please read our article how to secure data collection to the syslog forwarder
To enable Syslog server in ESET Protect, follow the steps below:

as the format of the payload - Select

as the format of the envelope - Select

as the minimal log level - Check all event types
- Type the address of the log concentrator
- Check
Validate CA Root certificates of TLS connections
- Copy the public certificate of the Certificate Authority in the textarea
- Click
Apply settings
Create an intake
Go to the intake page and create a new intake from the format ESET Protect
.
Forward logs to Sekoia.io
